Vert skateboarding is a type of skateboarding where the skater uses a half-pipe or a quarter-pipe to perform tricks. Vert skateboarding is more difficult than street skateboarding because the skater has to maintain balance while going up and down the pipe. Vert skateboarding was popularized in the 1980s by skaters like Tony Hawk and Christian Hosoi.
